Part of Salford City College Group

Sports students at Salford’s Eccles Sixth Form College were lucky enough to act as flagbearers for the recent Europa League Game at Old Trafford, in what was an incredible experience for all. Getting involved in local sporting events is one of the many ways that our sports students enjoy unique enrichment in their studies, participating in the spectacle at one of the world’s most iconic football stadiums.

Featuring a ceremony befitting the legendary status of the team, the league, and the Old Trafford grounds themselves, the atmosphere was as electric as it always is. The students were thrilled to be right at the heart of the action, getting a taste of what it’s like to be on the pitch rather than in the stands. The game itself was no less thrilling, with the whole experience creating an even better ending to the exciting match.

Experiences like these are part of what sets the vocational excellence of Eccles Sixth Form College, and Salford City College Group in general, apart. Classroom learning is always a vital part of achieving these qualifications, but practical, hands-on moments are just as important in creating the overall quality of the journey. Positioned as fortunately as we are here in Salford, so close to one of the world’s most well-known home grounds, taking hold of incredible opportunities like this is par for the course.

We are incredibly proud of our students in getting to this point and their own perseverance in their studies.
