Outline
Projects can be defined in all organisations, and require management to achieve success. Projects vary in size, complexity, budgets and resources. An Associate Project Manager knows what needs to be achieved, how it will be achieved, how long it will take and how much it will cost, and works with the project team to achieve the required outcomes. Associate Project Managers need good planning, organisation, leadership, management and communication skills.
Assessment
This apprenticeship typically takes 24 months to complete. You will develop a work-based e-portfolio via a combination of workplace experience and one-to-one support in the workplace. Monthly workshops will also take place.
Upon commencement, apprentices may become student members of the Association for Project Management (APM) as the first step of professional membership. Apprentices will be eligible for progression to associate membership upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. Full membership can be attained through further experience and professional development. You may be able to progress to a degree level apprenticeship.
Gateway
The gateway is the opportunity for the provider and employer to agree whether the apprentice is ready to take their End Point Assessment (EPA).
The end point assessment is synoptic, and takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development. The requirement is that the end point assessment is completed within three months from the start of the end point assessment period.
Entry Requirements
Apprentices must have the opportunity in their role to project manage at least one substantial project and management of other projects throughout the apprenticeship. Apprentices will be required to achieve level 2 English and Maths prior to taking the end point assessment. The apprenticeship includes the requirement to complete a level D qualification in project management – APM PMQ. Funding may be available to cover this apprenticeship – contact for more information on eligibility.
