Outline

Building services make buildings work. Service and Maintenance Engineers play a key role in planning and completing a range of maintenance work, encompassing industrial and commercial building services engineering systems such as:

Ventilation
Heating
Water supply
Waste (effluent discharge) and drainage
Related electrical isolation, disconnection, reconnection and reactivation
Monitoring and managing the operation of plant and equipment through building energy management systems
The work involves completing planned preventive maintenance and remedial repairs to building services systems and equipment.

The Building Services Engineering level 3 Standard is for candidates who want to be able to service and maintain building services systems and equipment in industrial and commercial buildings, working with a high level of autonomy.

The apprentice will also be able to carry out maintenance (planned and reactive), testing, commissioning and de-commissioning of the above system types, with the ability to liaise and communicate with other trades, clients and supervisors during maintenance operations and procedures.
