A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities.

This apprenticeship standard also includes a L2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations – Site Carpentry.

Assessment

Apprentices will attend college on a day release basis. Both theory and practical sessions will be undertaken where the technical knowledge and skills aligned to site carpentry will be developed.

A portfolio of evidence will be developed by the apprentice with the support of the Assessor. This portfolio will confirm the knowledge which has been developed, the skills which are regularly applied in the workplace and the behaviors demonstrated to be a successful site carpenter.

Apprentices are required to undertake an end point assessment. This will be an online knowledge test followed by a practical skills test to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviors developed over the programme.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • L2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations – Site Carpentry
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in English (unless previously achieved)
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in math’s (unless previously achieved)
