Outline

A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities.

Assessment

Apprentices will attend college on a day release basis. Both theory and practical sessions will be undertaken where the technical knowledge and skills aligned to site carpentry will be developed.

A portfolio of evidence will be developed by the apprentice with the support of the Assessor. This portfolio will confirm the knowledge which has been developed, the skills which are regularly applied in the workplace and the behaviours demonstrated to be a successful site carpenter.

End Point Assessment

The end point assessment is synoptic, and takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development. The requirement is that the end point assessment is completed within three months from the start of the end point assessment period. The end point assessment is made up of the following components:

  • A multiple choice test
  • A practical assessment with questions
  • An interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
