Typical job titles for this role can include Assistant Site Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor or Construction Site Supervisor. In the case of SME construction companies, the roles are likely to include Site Manager or Site Supervisor.

The main duties of a Construction Site Supervisor include supervision of specialist contractors, the control of health and safety standards, recording, control and reporting of progress, the minimisation of environmental impact, control of quality of work, and assisting commercial staff with the monitoring of cost.

This apprenticeship standard also includes a Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Construction and the Built Environment (Construction).

 

Assessment

Apprentices will attend college on a day release basis at FutureSkills at MediaCityUK, Dakota Avenue, M50 2PU, where knowledge will be developed via taught sessions, online learning and self-study. The HNC units to be delivered are: Construction technology , Science and materials, Construction practice and management, Construction information, Legal and statutory responsibilities in construction, Individual project, Principles of alternative energy, and Principles of refurbishment.

 

 

End Point Assessment

The end-point assessment is synoptic and takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development. The requirement is that the end-point assessment is completed within three months from the start of the end point assessment period. The end point assessment is made up of the following components:

  • An online knowledge test
  • An agreed project
  • A professional discussion

 

Entry Requirements

Each organisation will have their own entry requirements, and must be able to provide opportunities to work towards this apprenticeship as part of the job role.

A previous Level 3 construction-based apprenticeship, for example – Technical and Professional Advanced Level Apprenticeship.

Apprentices require five GCSEs at Grades A*/9 to C/4, including Grade C/4 in maths and English (or equivalent).
