GM FE Innovation Project Shortlisted for “Most Innovative Educational Project” at 2025 Edufuturists Awards

Salford City College Group is always seeking to be at the cutting edge of innovation in education. Collaborating with the GM Colleges group, one recent push in this direction has been the GM FE Innovation Project, an educational programme which has been in its pilot stages over the last year. Through a range of initiatives within the project, Salford City College Group, along with the GM Colleges, has brought bold ideas into workplaces in an effort to create and drive impact across a range of industries.
It is in recognition of the incredible effort and remarkable results of the programme that the project has been shortlisted in the 2025 Edufuturists Awards in the category of “Most Innovative Educational Project”. Everyone involved in the programme is thrilled to have been a part of getting the project to this stage, and Salford City College Group would like to thank the Innovation Team and everyone involved at each of the colleges for their support in making the project such a resounding success.
The Further Education Innovation Programme, funded by Innovate UK, aims to increase the role of colleges in boosting and supporting business productivity across the region. As part of this push, the Innovation Literacy Programme has empowered apprentices learning with Salford City College to lead change in their workplaces and drive innovation that makes a real change to the depth and richness of their education and their future prospects.
The Literacy Programme enables apprentices to become Apprentice Innovation Ambassadors and increase the innovation capacity where they are based. This training is delivered by Innovation Literacy Coordinators. Altogether, the programme is ultimately aimed at delivering a provision which ensures both that our apprentices get the most out of their education while also preparing diverse industries for a changing technological future.
Everyone at Salford City College is incredibly proud of all the dedication and hardwork that has gone into playing our part in the success of this initiative not just in Salford but across Greater Manchester.
